Holy crap! The last time I posted on here was September 9th… it’s December 21st!!! I wish I could have documented this past year more, but it honestly was so difficult. Though I had optimistic expectation for my blog in 2016, my photographer was away the whole year. To be quite frank – I was also in Harlingen. I love Harlingen, don’t get me wrong, but I felt I had exhausted pretty much all of the “scenic” settings of a small, not-so-aesthetically-pleasing town that I could. Perhaps I am not creative enough.
But alas as I type this, we are 10 days away from 2017. 2016 was amazing. Fonz joined the marines and left in January,
we got married in April, and we moved to South Carolina this month… plus so much in between! I think my favorite part of this year was when Fonz was based in Oceanside, California for training. I believe I went three times over the course of 4 months and each time I found a new reason to love the area. California is everything we wanted in a place to live – beautiful, sunny, relaxed, fun, on the coast. We were praying to God we got stationed there once he was done with training, but God works in mysterious ways! His orders instead sent us to Beaufort, South Carolina. I had no idea Beaufort was exactly what I wanted until we arrived here on December 16th. We some how managed to find all the things we adored about California in a different way. It is the most beautiful, quaint little town. The downtown district and historic neighborhoods send me into a swoon each time I turn the corner. We are about an hour away from Savannah, Georgia (America’s most haunted city – AWESOME) and an hour and a half away from Charleston. There is so much history here! I just love it. The best thing about this little town? Dogs are pretty much allowed anywhere. In fact, they welcome dogs!!! We even took Mika to Kmart …though I’m pretty sure that was not allowed (we dodged in and out of aisles hiding from employees). One of our favorite parts about California was obviously the abundance of beach. Though it’s not the Pacific, we still got a beach! Now we have a little baby one in our backyard! Between our backyard and about 50 feet of pine trees and brush lay sand and waves, perfect for just the two of us.
Though I think it will be easy to call this place home, nothing can really compare to our forever home: the Rio Grande Valley. As a last hurrah to the Valley and our time there, we decided to take some photos with Anahi Photography on the island. Her and Edgar did an amazing job. We just loved how they turned out, so I wanted to share some of my favorites on here:
It started raining immediately, but I feel like it made it 10x’s better! Anahi and Edgar had a great vision. We seriously thought we NAILED this ^ Dirty Dancing move at the time, but we could not stop laughing at how contorted Fonz looked when we received the photos! Hahah I feel like I can see the veins in his forehead bursting from here!
Until next time! I promise this time it won’t be another four months ;)
