Happy Labor Day, friends! I hope that you’re enjoying this fine holiday in the comfort of your own bed, just as I am at this very moment. I’ve gotten quite a few questions/comments about my next Monday Muses post. I hate to leave y’all hanging! I wanted to write up another one when I had accumulated a handful of brand new muses.. which I have!
But first – let me update y’all. I’ve mentioned my career change in previous posts, but I haven’t really gone into much detail. Well! I am now a teacher. Yep, you read right… a teacher. A high school teacher. The response I’ve received from pretty much everyone I tell is either “…why?” or just an eyebrow raise. I know, it’s kinda a drastic career hop – graphic designer to high school teacher. I loved being a graphic designer and I definitely still practice for different people/companies (including myself). But I was missing something. I was missing an intrinsic reward. I wasn’t sure what exactly it was, but I knew I was missing some sort of gratification. I thought if I started teaching and providing high school students with everything I know (not that I’m some vast vessel of knowledge or anything) I would find that feeling. And I did! This was exactly the leap I needed to take. I have to admit, I have never done something more exhausting in my entire life. But as cliché as it sounds, it’s so worth it. So if you’re wondering why I’ve been slacking on my posts, I promise it’s not because I love my blog any less. I love my little corner of the internet. It’s pretty much because I’ve been passing out at like 9:30 every night and have no energy to do anything else. But the good thing is I’m becoming adjusted to my schedule – finally!
The next new thing about my life is that I bought a car!! If you saw what I was riding around in for the past
few years 8 years to be exact, then you know this was LONG overdue. Not to hate on my little ole Sentra, but it was a piece of crap that was falling apart on the daily. So a few weeks ago, I randomly decided to look around at new cars and I left with a Mercedes GLK350. I know what you’re thinking… how do you afford a Mercedes on this newly acquired teacher’s salary. Well 1. It’s a 2013 and 2. I got an awesome deal because the guys at the Mercedes Benz of San Juan are AMAZING! I can honestly say it was the one time I felt like I wasn’t being swindled by salesmen. They were there to work with me and make sure I was leaving with a vehicle/payment/APR that I was satisfied with. I cannot recommend the dealership enough!
Alright, alright, alright. I’m sorry for blabbing on so much. I just feel like I’ve left y’all in the dark for so long about what I’m doing and what’s going on with me! But now onto the important stuff – my muses!
My little dude has been the best part of these past couple of months. It’s so nice coming home to his little wagging tail and his wet kisses after an exhausting day. Lately, our favorite pastime have included taking naps with dad, getting puppacinos, going for dips in the pool, and stealing his cousin Rex’s toys.
I have been SO OBSESSED with culottes lately. They look so comfy, yet still so chic. Where I live,
culottes cute culottes aren’t really readily available to me and I was reluctant to buy them online because I was so weary of how they may look on my little frame. However! The other day I was strolling through Forever 21 and found the cutest pair!! They are currently being altered (a bit too long and a bit too wide around the waist), but I plan on doing a work wear post on them in the near future.
Basically I can’t let go of Summer and do not want Fall to be here just yet. Don’t get me wrong – I love the events that Fall brings: fall festivals, pumpkin carvings, Halloween… but I LOVE the Summertime. It’s the best weather, the best clothes, bikinis, and so leisurely. Lately I’ve been loving makeup looks that scream Summer. Pretty much anything with glowy skin, bronze complexions, and bold bright lips. Orange lips have been my absolute favorite this season. They’re so just fun!
If you’ve never checked out Reformation, you need to check it out stat! They have the coolest, most simplistic clothes. But despite their simplicity, they make a pretty bold statement by being form fitting and sexy. If you follow any blogger and have eyes, then you’ve probably seen that lace up body suit that EVERYONE wore this Summer..which is how I found Reformation! Well that’s not the only amazing piece they offer. I plan on picking up the Edison dress (the one in the center) as soon as possible!
Maybe you remember her as the naked girl in the Blurred Lines music video? Or Ben Affleck’s hot girlfriend in Gone Girl? I’ve been seeing her quite a bit lately, as she just had a new movie released, and I have to say – I think she is an amazing role model for women. I’ve read two interviews with her recently (here and here) and I am so impressed by her. She is the perfect example that women do not have to be either sexy or smart. They can be both. One of my favorite parts about her is her vast knowledge and interest in art. Another thing I love about her? She is sexy and she is nude (a lot of the time) and she never apologizes for it.
“It’s weird to me that the reaction to a woman’s naked body is so controversial in our culture. My mum taught me to never apologise for my sexuality. My dad never made me feel embarrassed. I also don’t think I’ve ever had an awareness of my own body as being super-sexual. It was always just my body.”
Thanks for reading along with today’s Monday Muse post! I’ll be back very soon with a new post all about some of my new finds from the On The Beach 50% off sale…which is still going on!! Until Then ♥
