Hi Guys! I wanted today’s post to show you where I’ve been lately. Things have been so crazy this month! Besides going to graduations, moving into a new house, and transitioning at work …my sister got married! So that kind of explains why I’m not posting as much as I’d like to on here. The wedding was this past Sunday during Memorial Day Weekend. Brandon, my sister’s husband (how crazy is that?!), is in the military and lives in Germany. So because of that, we had a unique situation. He wasn’t going to know the exact time he would have leave until 4 weeks prior… meaning we only had 4 weeks to plan a wedding at any point. We decided to have it in our backyard so we wouldn’t have to worry about booking a venue. Props to my mom and stepdad, Bob, who totally pulled it off. They completely re-landscaped the yard, added in a brick dance area, dressed our big trees in Christmas lights, and even made new wood furniture and fencing (Bob is a carpenter)! I thought the backyard looked amazing.
One of my absolute favorite parts of the wedding was the band! It was PERFECT! I spotted this guy playing solo at Rio Grande Grill (mentioned here) one day and knew immediately he had the perfect vibe for the wedding. Not only does he play the acoustic guitar and harmonica at the same time, but he sings, too! His music has a Texas Country vibe to it but a little bit more Rock… he kinda reminds me a lot of The Band. He brought along a guitarist and drummer. Turns out – the drummer of his band was also Brandon’s brother. Brandon’s brother, Justin, got invited by the musician I scouted to come play at a wedding and Justin actually declined because he had “another” wedding to attend – it ended up being the same one! So while he wasn’t busy with his Best Man duties, he got to drum along to a few songs. The wedding ended up being perfect. I couldn’t have imagined something that reflected my sister and Brandon’s personalities more – it was warm and inviting, laid-back, and full of moments we’ll never forget.
My boyfriend, Fonz, is a photographer, so he took the photos at the wedding. It was really nice having someone we actually know be apart of the wedding in such an important way. He just finished editing some of the pictures so I thought I would share some of them on here for you guys! Enjoy!
